Amorim wants to sign Victor Gyokeris
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen on signing Swedish striker Victor Gyokiris during the current winter transfer window, according to reports.
According to The Sun, Amorim is concerned about Manchester United’s weak attacking options and wants to make a big signing this month rather than wait until the summer.
Gyokiris, 26, is under contract with Sporting Lisbon until 2028, with a release clause of around £80m.
The report suggests that Amorim is prepared to part ways with both Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee as part of a major restructuring of his attacking options, with Gyokiris being seen as the ideal replacement for them.
The Swedish striker is having an incredible season with Sporting, scoring 26 goals in 24 games so far. Among those goals, he scored a stunning hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League two months ago.
Sporting are expected to be willing to sell Gjokeres at the end of the season, for a sum ranging between £62m and £70m. However, if Manchester United decide to make an official offer during the current winter transfer window, the English club may have to pay the full release clause, i.e. £80m, to force Sporting to part with their star player.
