Barcelona player: Vinicius’ punishment is unfair

Barcelona star Inigo Martinez believes that reducing the suspension of Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior to two matches, after his expulsion against Valencia, is unfair.

Martinez participated in the 2-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao, yesterday evening, Wednesday, in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Martinez said, in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”: “I don’t think it’s fair. A few years ago, I was punished with a four-match suspension for a much lesser offence, and the matter was not discussed at the time, while now the punishment is reduced significantly for some. These are matters that others decide and are not within our reach.”

With this victory, Barcelona secured their passage to the final match scheduled for next Sunday, and awaits the winner of today’s match between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca.

It is noteworthy that Vinicius received a direct red card in the Valencia match, and La Liga decided to suspend him for two matches against Las Palmas and Valladolid in the Spanish League, but he can play in the Super Cup normally.
