Mourinho: I regretted rejecting Perez’s request
Portuguese Jose Mourinho, coach of Turkish club Fenerbahce, revealed the decisions he regretted most during his coaching career.
Mourinho said in statements to the Italian newspaper “Corriere dello Sport”: “I regretted many decisions in football, the most prominent of which was when I said no to Florentino Perez.”
He added: “Perez told me not to leave now because you have completed the hard part of the mission, and now the best part will begin.”
He continued: “I knew this was true, but I wanted to return to Chelsea after 3 years of great challenges in Spain.”
He added: “I also regretted not leaving immediately after the Europa League final with Roma against Sevilla, this was my mistake, but not because of the chaos caused by Anthony Taylor, the referee of the match.”
He concluded: “I did not watch Roma matches at all after leaving, but I still watch Inter matches.”
Mourinho led Inter in 2010 to achieve the historic treble, the league, the Italian Cup and the Champions League.
Fenerbahce is in second place in the Turkish league table, with 36 points, 8 points behind the leader Galatasaray.
