Atletico Madrid issues statement on Olmo crisis

Atlético de Madrid has issued a statement on the case of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, and the decision of the Higher Sports Council to provisionally approve their registration for Barcelona.

Atlético de Madrid stressed that “the Sports Law protects the economic control of LaLiga, however, this decision puts this at risk”.

He continued: “The economic control of LaLiga has been the main tool that has made our football an internationally admired operation”.

He added: “Our club, like all members of LaLiga until this decision, has been implementing the rules of economic control and we will continue to respect them. In fact, in order to be able to compete at the level we have been at in recent years, we have decided to increase the capital, despite the great effort that this represents”.

He pointed out: “This government intervention creates a dangerous precedent, because it opens the way to bypassing the rules and resorting to the serious mistakes of the past. Atlético de Madrid maintains its commitment to strict and responsible management, and without clear and equal rules for everyone, no fair championship is possible”.

The Supreme Sports Council has agreed to grant the urgent temporary permit requested by Barcelona to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor “provisionally”, until the appeal submitted by Barça is finally decided.
